As an occupation, work plays a major role in the development and maintenance of self-image. Not only does it provide a sense of purpose and belonging, it also helps to build confidence and self-esteem. Employment amongst individuals with different needs is especially crucial: its associated paycheck has a direct impact on our day-to-day activity choices, social inclusion, and subsequent quality of life.
There is a strong interest in employment among working-age people with differing needs (CSO, 2010; Watson & Nolan, 2011). Here at Thrive Outside Occupational Therapy we can help you to explore your career interests, identify strengths and potential areas for development, develop your skills, and gain meaningful and motivating employment.
