“Tools for School” is a Primary School readiness group designed to prepare children for a successful transition to Primary School.
Starting school is an exciting time for parents and children, however this important transition period brings its own set of unique and often daunting challenges. A successful transition to primary school involves preparation of a child’s physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.
Our “Tools for School” Primary School-Readiness Group runs yearly in July/August, in our clinic in the Carrigaline Primary Care Centre. Spaces are limited so please confirm your place early to avoid disappointment.
Our school-readiness group focuses on developing skills in the following areas:

Developing fine motor ability with a focus on pre-writing skills
Developing gross motor skills
Understanding basic classroom concepts and following teacher direction
Gaining an understanding of classroom routines, rules, and expectations
Developing social skills e.g. attention, listening & turn-taking
Developing executive functioning skills such as planning and organising
Building confidence, self-esteem & resilience
