
The Occupational Therapy profession actively advocates an ethos of client-centredness. It is built upon the recognition of the link between an individual, their social and physical environment, and their daily occupational participation and performance. Gender identity and sexual orientation are central to a person’s sense of self and impacts how individuals connect with their physical communities.
Embracing this ethos, Rachel O’Mahony Occupational Therapy Services adopts an inclusive stance of LGBT+ related needs which impact on the health and occupational choices of LGBT+ clients.
We provide the following services for people managing mental health issues arising from the following:
- Gender dysphoria
- Depression
- Coping with transitioning
- Acceptance of sexual orientation
- Support for parents/carers of LGBT+ individuals

We provide information, support and resources for the gay, bi, queer and trans community. From our community centre in Cork we provide a range of resources including free condoms and lube, LGBT books, magazines and DVDs, LGBT and general health leaflets – we also provide support by phone and email. The centre is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12 – 3pm for resources and info and every evening for events.

LINC is a resource centre in Cork city for Lesbian and bisexual women. We run a full programme of activities and have other supports based in the centre such as an alcohol and drugs support group. Please check out our website for full details.
